The Presentation Primary School in Clonmel was delighted to win sports equipment worth €1,000
The Presentation Primary School, Clonmel, is delighted to announce that it can now be called the third fittest school in Ireland after competing in a nationwide competition, run by Fyffes bananas.
From last January to May, schools around the country sent in photos and videos of exercises completed by classes. Four schools were chosen to compete for prizes totalling €8,000.
The grand final, which took place in Dublin on Friday, May 24, was hosted by three of Ireland’s best-known athletes – World Para Rowing champion Katie O’Brien and Olympians, sprinters Phil Healy and David Gillick.
Finishing in third place, the Presentation has won sports equipment to the value of €1,000.
The school congratulates St Mary’s National School, Touraneena, which won the overall competition and €5,000 worth of sports equipment.
In our school, every class had a representative, from Juniors to Sixth Class who competed in the sack race, the egg and spoon race, the long jump and many more.
Four teachers also participated in a relay race.
In the teacher relay we finished in fourth place, but for most of the races we finished in third or second places.
I think everyone was really happy that we could go to Dublin and support our school.
On arrival we got a goodie bag and free water. We also were given a flag and a water bottle in the bag. We were very happy that we got to the final and performed so well -
