The MooreHaven Centre in Tipperary Town that provides day and residential services for adults with intellectual disabilities has appointed a new Chief Executive Officer.

The 43-year-old centre that operates day service hubs in Tipperary Town and Cashel and five residential units in Tipperary Town, has appointed Michael Murnane as its new CEO.

The native of Newport, who lives in Herbertstown, county Limerick, joins the organisation from St John of God’s Community Services where he most recently served as Director of Finance.

Prior to that, he was Chief Financial Officer and, for a period, Interim CEO of Greyhound Racing Ireland.

Mr Murnane is a qualified accountant for the past 30 years and brings to MooreHaven a wide range of leadership and senior management experience, including working closely with the CEO and Director of Operations in St Join of God’s Community Services on the delivery of that organisation’s disability services.

MooreHaven’s Chairman Denis Kennedy said MooreHaven’s Board is confident Michael will be a strong, innovative and empathetic leader and will successfully lead their team to improve and develop their day, residential and respite services and grow these services to meet increasing needs.

“I know he will have the full support of the Board, management and staff as he leads our service to the next level for the continued benefit of our service ssers, their families and the wider community,” he added.

MooreHaven’s Families & Relatives Association has welcomed Mr Murnane to his new role as CEO.

MooreHaven FRA Chairperson Anne Maher said: "We look forward to working together to realise the vision of MooreHaven towards ensuring service users live their fullest lives in an inclusive community.”

MooreHaven currently provides day services to 127 service users and residential services to 19 residents. The organisation employs more than 90 full-time and part-time staff.
