Ruby the Cavalier King Charles has been selected as the Tipperary candidate for the annual Nose of Tralee competition.
The 11th Annual Pet Nose of Tralee competition is up and running, and will reach its concluding stages over the next few weeks.
To date, one pet from each county has been selected based on a combination of a public vote and the judging panels vote.
Ruby is owned by Jenny McCormack from Thurles, who has been nominated back-to-back, as she also had last year's Tipperary representative, a Pugalier named Podge.
Ruby is very adventurous and loves venturing off to different locations in Tipperary with her brother Podge. She loves meeting other dogs and is so gentle and friendly to everyone she meets.
Ruby's loyalty truly stands out. Being the original house dog, she stepped up as the best big sister when Podge joined the family. She nurtured him, practically raising him from the start. When Podge suffered from blood poisoning at 6 months old, Ruby never left his side, giving him comfort with cuddles and gentle face licks.
Podge proudly represented Tipperary in the Nose of Tralee last year, and now Ruby is continuing the tradition this year. Ruby's care for Podge during his illness is now reciprocated as Podge graciously passes on his title to her.
Voting is currently open to the public until midnight on August 19.
