Panduit Carrick Wheelers CC enjoyed a fantastic cyclocross season, securing podiums across all five rounds of the Munster Cyclocross League and at the National Championships.
The season began on September 28 at Round One of the Munster CX in Fermoy, where James Logue took second in the U16 Boys, Rory Mulhearne placed fifth, and Orla Mulhearne won the U16 Girls.
At UCI Cross Clonmel on October 12 and 13, Orla finished third in the U16 Girls, Dermot Logue placed fifth in the support race, while James and Rory put in strong performances in the U16 Boys race.
On Day Two, Declan Hanrahan secured third in the M50 race, with Martin O’Loughlin finishing eighth.
On October 20, the club had the pleasure of being the host club for Round Two of Munster CX at Powerstown Racecourse in Clonmel.
Here saw Dermot Logue finish second in the B race, Martin O’Loughlin take fifth, James Logue place second in U16 Boys, and Orla Mulhearne also secure second in the U16 Girls.
Declan Hanrahan finished out the Men’s A race in twelfth place in what was a stacked field of competitors.
At Round Three in Youghal, Declan then went on to win the M60 race, James Logue finished second in the U16 Boys, and Orla Mulhearne dominated the U16 Girls race taking home the win.
The club were delighted to have new member Tadhg Norris made his U10 debut also.
Round Four in Cork Showgrounds, hosted by De Ronde Van Cork CC on November 17 saw James, Orla, and Declan continue their podium streaks in a race honouring the late Thomas Mulqueen.
The final round, hosted by Over the Hill CC at Limerick Racecourse on December 15, saw Orla secure the U16 Girls league title and Declan claim both the M60 race and overall league win.
The season concluded on the January 11 in Ballinasloe, Co Galway at the National Championships, where Declan earned a hard-fought bronze in M60, Orla was the top U15 Girl, and James placed seventh in a competitive U16 Boys field.
A phenomenal winter for the club, showcasing skill, resilience, and determination across every round of the Munster CX and at the National Championships, congratulations to all.
