South Tipperary Independent TD Mattie McGrath has welcomed the approval by the Department of Education for additional capacity for Scoil Aonghusa.
Having raised the ongoing capacity issues at Scoil Aonghusa with the Minister for Education Helen McEntee and Minister for Special Education Michael Moynihan TD Deputy McGrath received the following response from the Minister:
“ I am pleased to confirm that an accommodation brief for 14 classrooms and associated ancillary accommodation has recently been issued to the school authority for its approval. My department considers that this accommodation could be delivered for the school with the support of project managers under the Department’s timber-frame modular framework.
“This is a very significant project which will add capacity and transform facilities for the school.”

“This is a very significant development as we are all dealing with the lack of appropriate school places for children with complex additional needs who require a place in a Special School and the news of additional accommodation at Scoil Aonghusa is indeed very welcome,” said Deputy McGrath.
