Local Tipperary school set to receive fourteen new classrooms

Scoil Aonghuse, Cashel, has received confirmation that they will be approved additional accommodation of 14 classrooms in the school.

The classrooms will see additional space become available for special educational purposes.

Speaking on the announcement, Councillor Declan Burgess said: "Delighted to confirm approval for additional accommodation of 14 classrooms for Scoil Aonghusa, Cashel.

"This positive news broke this morning from Deputy Michael Murphy who was again speaking about special education space in Tipperary in the Dáil Chamber. I am delighted to work closely with Minister Helen McEntee, who has hit the ground running in her portfolio.

"This will see the delivery of 14 classrooms, alongside associated ancillary works. This is a very significant project which will transform the facilities for the school.

"This is a highly important development, as we are facing the shortage of suitable school places for children with additional needs who require Special School placements. This announcement of additional accommodation at Scoil Aonghusa is certainly a welcome development for Cashel and the wider region.

"Well done to Principal Siobhán Keyes Ryan, Deputy Principal Ciara Gleeson, Staff and the Board of Management for their consistent work and commitment towards this project. This development is long over due and I will monitor it’s progress closely. I am happy to continue to work with the school and Michael Murphy TD in driving further advancements to school infrastructure in Tipperary," Cllr Burgess concluded.
