Eight south Tipperary community centres secure almost €700,000 grant aid for upgrade works

The funding for the centres has been allocated under the Community Centre Investment Fund

Community groups have secured €700,000 Government funding this week to upgrade community centres in eight villages and towns in south Tipperary.

The Community Centre Investment Fund 2024 allocation of €693,092 to south Tipperary will benefit community centres in Clonmel, Tipperary Town, Cahir, Fethard, Lisvernane, Glengoole, Rosegreen and Knockavilla. They are among 18 community centres throughout the county allocated close to €1.3m under this fund.

Cahir Development Association has secured €100,000 for renovations to Cahir Community Hall.

Aherlow Kilross Community Council CLG is getting €100,000 for the installation of solar panels at Lisvernane Community Hall while Fethard & Killusty Muintir Council CLG will spend its €100,000 funding on maintenance of Fethard Community Hall roof.

Rosegreen Development Association CLG will invest its €100,000 allocation on an extension to Rosegreen Community Centre.
Knockavilla Community Council will use its €100,000 allocation on renovations and upgrading the stage area of Knockavilla Community Hall.

Waterford & South Tipperary Community Youth Service has secured €89,993 for roof repairs and installation of new gutters and pipes at the Elm Park Complex in Clonmel.

The €60,148 grant to Marian Hall in Tipperary Town will be invested in refurbishment of the facility while the €42,951 grant approved for Millennium Family Resource Centre CLG will be used to upgrade the Glengoole centre’s kitchen.

Fine Gael TD Michael Murphy said the funding will enhance the county’s capacity to provide critical services, community activities, and a greater quality of life for residents.
