Today marks the final opportunity for presidential hopefuls to lodge their applications with Tipperary County Council in the race for a nomination.
A special meeting has been scheduled for next Tuesday, where aspiring candidates will be required to appear in person before councillors to seek their support.
So far, the local authority has confirmed that at least 17 applications have been received. However, applicants must ensure they submit both a copy of their passport and their presentation materials by close of business today in order for their eligibility to be assessed.

Among the more high-profile figures are businessman and former presidential candidate Peter Casey, academic and political activist Professor Dolores Cahill, and UFC star Conor McGregor, who recently contacted the Council to be included.
Each of these hopefuls has been asked to submit a copy of their passport and a presentation outlining their case by the close of business today. They will also be required to attend a special meeting in Nenagh next Tuesday, where they must personally appeal to councillors for support.
Senior Executive Officer Ger Walsh, who oversees administrative operations at Tipperary County Council, explained that the requirement for candidates to appear in person at Nenagh was decided by the councillors themselves.
