Tipperary schools encouraged to wear team colours this Friday in support of GOAL’s Jersey Day

Students and staff urged to don their favourite jerseys and raise funds for global aid work

Tipperary schools encouraged to wear team colours this Friday in support of GOAL’s Jersey Day

Schools and workplaces across Tipperary are being encouraged to swap their uniforms for jerseys this Friday October 10, in support of GOAL’s long-running Jersey Day fundraiser.

The annual event, now running for more than three decades, invites students, teachers, and workplaces to wear their team colours and make a small donation to GOAL, helping to fund its humanitarian and development programmes around the world.

Brenda Gately, GOAL’s Fundraising and Events Manager, said taking part could not be simpler. “Getting involved is really easy, you can sign up at Jerseyday.org and register your club or your school, or you can just donate to the cause,” she explained.

Last year, the initiative raised over €240,000, funds that allowed GOAL to continue delivering humanitarian assistance to more than 12 million people in some of the world’s most difficult and dangerous environments.

The charity’s work reaches from Sudan, where a power struggle between military factions has caused mass displacement, to Gaza, where GOAL has partnered with Palestinian NGO Taawon to deliver vital aid.

GOAL currently operates in 14 countries across Africa, the Middle East and Latin America, focusing on emergency response, health, nutrition, food security, livelihoods, and WASH (Water, Sanitation and Hygiene) programmes.

Its mission remains to support vulnerable communities facing crises and extreme poverty, offering both immediate relief and long-term development.

This year, Premier Sports has come on board as the title sponsor of GOAL Jersey Day 2025, joining one of Ireland’s most enduring and uplifting fundraising traditions. For schools and workplaces across Tipperary, the message is simple, wear your colours, make a contribution, and help GOAL continue its life-changing work across the globe.
