Arra Historical and Archaeological Society welcomed Marcus Orsi as guest speaker on Thursday 27 November at 8pm. A senior philatelist with David Feldman, Mr Orsi brings over forty years of experience in high-end stamp and postal history auctions.

The evening explored the evolution of the state through the prism of the postal service, offering members and visitors alike a novel perspective on Ireland’s past. The Society extended an open invitation to all interested in attending, with non-members paying a modest €5 admission. Membership renewals are now due.
Attendees were treated to a presentation entitled “Ireland’s Shifting Foundations – From Transition to Civil War (1920–1925)”. Mr Orsi showcased artefacts and reproductions from his personal collection, providing a rare opportunity to view historical items up close.
The Society expressed its gratitude, noting the evening as a privilege. Marcus Orsi illuminated the unexpected significance of postage stamps in the story of the nation, opening new avenues for understanding the past and inspiring fresh appreciation for these small yet potent artefacts.
