Ballingarry set for road hurling tournament

Eoin Kelly will act as one of the patrons for the tournament

Tipperary Minor Hurling Manager Liam Cahill and Tipperary U-21 Hurling Manager William Maher, together with All Ireland Minor Hurling medallist Dylan Walsh - all from Ballingarry and 6 time Tipperary All Star Eoin Kelly from nearby Mullinahone will act as patrons to this Road Hurling Tournament taking place on Bank Holiday Monday 31th October commencing with registration at 12 noon in the local GAA Clubhouse in O Sullivan Park, Ballingarry.

The All-Ireland Minor hurling Irish Press Cup will be on display for the day with the likelihood of the presence of the Liam McCarthy Cup at some point during the afternoon.

Route: The competition will commence outside Our Lady's Primary School in Ballingarry village, proceeding out to Croke's Cross (on The Commons Rd) , up the hill on the Farrenrory Rd, then taking a further right turn at the top of the hill and returning to the village by the top road - a total distance of 2.8 kilometres (approx.) . Refreshments will be served to all competitors in the Clubhouse afterwards.

Hedges and road margins along the entire route have been trimmed for easy retrieval of the 'sliothars' and to ensure smooth and steady progress along the route. The local Civil Defence team will help to monitor and steward the outing.

Teams: A team will consist of 3 players of any combination (male /female, senior /juvenile etc.). We will have teams participating from local clubs in Tipperary and across the border in Kilkenny. Cost per team is €30 or €10 per person. A Juvenile team will cost just €15 or €5 each. There will be 4 team prizes to include best overall, best Tipperary & Kilkenny Clubs and best juvenile. A good turnout is expected on what should be a very enjoyable day. Teams can be booked in advance by contacting MaryAnne at 086 1547484
