On Sunday Biddy O’Dwyer from Drangan led a group of about 100 people up Slievenamon for the Climb a Hill for Jack and Jill Foundation fundraiser.

This was the fourth year in a row for the event.

But this time she brought the All Ireland senior and minor hurling cups on the climb.

It is her first time bringing the  Liam McCarthy and Irish Press cups, which she hopes to repeat next year!

Bringing the cups to the top of the famous Tipperary mountain.

Approx €1,500 was raised on the day.

Biddy was ably assisted by Eddie Brennan and Jamie Lawlor, both experienced at climbing bigger mountains!

What is the Jack and Jill Foundation?

The Jack & Jill Foundation provides nursing care and support for children with severe neurological development issues, as well as offering some respite to the parents and families

In order to continue this invaluable support, funds are always needed, hence the “Climb a Hill for Jack and Jill” idea.

So, Biddy O’Dwyer, an inspirational fitness instructor with a passion for climbing Slievenamon, set about organising a fundraising climb.

One hundred men. women and children (some as young as 4), set off at noon on Sunday with the promise that they would have their photos taken at the summit with the Liam McCarthy and the Irish Press Minor Cups.

Biddy's mother, Mary Murphy, proudly holds the cups at her home in Killenaule.

On her way to return the cups, Biddy called on her 91 year old mother, Mary Murphy, Killenaule to show her the cups.
