Christmas shoppers will be able to park for free in Carrick-on-Suir's Co. Council owned car parks on the four Saturdays in December, it was announced at Carrick-on-Suir Municipal District's monthly meeting.
Carrick-on-Suir MD Administrator Martin Nolan said free parking will be available at New Street, William Street and Strand Lane car parks as well as at the Greenside car park beside the Library on Saturdays, December 2, 9, 16 and 23.
He stressed motorists will still have to pay charges to park on the town centre's streets because of the traffic management difficulties it would cause.
However, the 20 minute-free car parking concession that applies to Main Street, Sean Kelly Square, Kickham Street and New Street will continue to apply.
