A young woman and two young men have been charged in relation to passing counterfeit €50 notes to businesses in Co. Tipperary last weekend and will appear before a district court in two weeks time.
All three are from the Charleville area of Co. Cork and they were charged at Roscrea and Nenagh Garda Stations yesterday (Wednesday) after being arrested following a garda search operation in Charleville.
The woman and one of the men are aged in their 20s while the second male is aged 19. They have been released on station bail to appear before Nenagh District Court on December 15.
Gda. Insp. Seamus Maher of Nenagh Garda Station said the arrests and charges arose from their investigation into the passing of counterfeit €50 notes to seven businesses in Tipperary Town, Toomevara, Nenagh, Newport and Roscrea last Saturday.
He appealed to shops and other businesses in the county as well as shoppers to be vigilant about counterfeit €50 notes and to report any they come across to the gardai.
