BREAKING - Man dies in Tipperary motorway crash on M8

The 79 year-old motorist who was killed in a two car collision on the M8 motorway near Cahir on Monday night, has been named as David (Dave) Walsh from Skeheenarinky. 

The tragic death of Mr Walsh, a bachelor from Galtee Cottage, Skeheenarinky, Burncourt, has shocked and deeply saddened his local community. 

Mr Walsh is survived by his sister Mary O'Regan, brother Bob, nieces, nephews, grandnieces and grandnephews, brother-in-law, sisters-in-law other relatives, neighbours and friends. 

He was the driver of one of two cars involved in a collision on the southbound carraigeway of the M8 at Coolnagarraneroe about four miles from Cahir just after 9pm on Monday. 

Mr Walsh was pronounced dead at the scene and his body was taken to Cork University Hospital. The 51 year-old driver of the second car was from Rochestown in Cork. He also taken to CUH with injuries described as minor. 

The motorway between J11 and J12 south bound was closed until yesterday (Tuesday) afternoon to facilitate an examination by Garda Forensic Collision Investigators.
