Nenagh Agricultural Science student Michael Delaney has received a Professional Work Experience travel bursary sponsored by the Agricultural Science Association (ASA) and the Irish Farmers Journal.
The bursary is designed to encourage students to broaden their knowledge and travel internationally to gain experience in the global agri-food sector.
Michael, a third year Agricultural Science student at UCD, will travel to Saskatchewan in Canada where he will work for 2 months on a beef and tillage farm.
“I am really looking forward to the experience on this farm which involves a 750 cow suckler herd and 11,000 acres. I will be working with the farmers on managing the cattle and getting the fields ready for sowing,” said Michael.
This is the third year in which the ASA and Irish Farmers Journal have come together to reward third-year students who opt to do the work experience element of their course overseas.
