Woman suffers serious burns in house fire in Templemore, Co. Tipperary

A woman had to be hospitalised after suffering serious injuries in a house fire in Templemore on Monday evening.

The alert was sounded at about 9pm when the fire was seen coming from a house in Bank Street, Templemore.

One unit of the Fire Brigade from Templemore and two units from Thurles immediately attended the scene and quickly brought the blaze under control.

One woman, understood to be the sole occupant of the building, was rescued and brought to Cork University Hospital (CUH). It's understood the woman, who is aged in her 40s or 50s, is recovering from burns and smoke inhalation. A spokesperson for the Fire Service in Thurles said local Gardaí are carrying out an investigation into the cause of the fire.
