‘Refresh Thurles’ supports the Primary School Notice Nature Poster Competition

Spring Clean Up: During April, Refresh Thurles are going to hold a number of clean-ups as part of An Taisce Spring Clean.

Saturday, April 14th Moyne Road – meet opposite St Patrick’s Graveyard 10am – noon

We look forward to the help from local residents and members of Thurles Eco Spirituality Group.

We can supply a limited number of gloves, litter pickers and high vis vests on the day.

April 21st Footpath – Turtulla Bridge to Cross (left hand side as you exit town)10am – noon.

Railway Station area Clean Up at end of the month – Friday evening at 8pm or early Sunday morning best time to access with minimal traffic. Details to follow. All volunteers most welcome. As the weather improves some evening work can also be scheduled.

Nature Photography Competition part of our Tidy Town Entry

At present this competition is open for entries – 4 categories U12, U18, U55 and 55+. To enter please bring your phone or camera with your photograph to Friar Street Photo Station. Photos will be printed from your phone or camera. Closing date is May 5th.

All entries will be printed and displayed on May 22nd in the Community Rooms at Source Centre. As part of the evening a lecture on Biodiversity will be delivered by Mr Ben Malone of National Bio Diversity Data Centre.

The prize winner in each category will receive a framed print and a €50.00 prize. We would like to thank Friar Street Photo Station for their generous sponsorship and contribution to this competition. So, get out and look at all the “Nature”, flora or fauna around you in Thurles. Picture must be taken this year and within a 10km radius of Liberty Square.


Primary School Notice Nature Poster Competition

Congrats to the school winners from Gael Scoil Bhríde, Rahealty NS and Scoil Angela. The posters are now on display until April 21st in Thurles Credit Union. Thanks to Mr. Michael Harty and staff for their assistance. The overall winner was selected by our Judge Ms Pat Baird – congrats to Ava Ni Dhuibhir from Scoil Bhríde.
