Praise for emergency services in tackling major oil spill in Cashel, Co. Tipperary

Cllr Martin Browne

Cashel Cllr Martin Browne wants to express his gratitude to the fire services and the council outdoor staff for the way they handled and contained the oil spillage on Monday night in Cashel.

The Sinn Fein Councillor wants to acknowledge the work they did to contain the situation and to prevent the spillage from entering the treatment plant in the vicinity and from entering the stream and river in the location.

He expresses his annoyance with Irish water again for not updating their page to help allay fears the public had about their drinking water and if this would affect them.

Cllr Browne is asking why - 12 hours after the first report of a problem - that no updates were on their page and that when he himself made a phone call the following morning that the staff were not even aware of any problem.
