Gardai have arrested a teenage youth in connection with an armed raid on a Carrick-on-Suir Service Station yesterday (Wednesday) morning.
The local youth was arrested at 8.30am today under Section 4 of the Criminal Justice Act and is currently being detained at Cahir Garda Station for questioning in relation to the raid on the Primo Service Station at John Street, Carrick-on-Suir.
The incident occurred at 9.42am yesterday (Wednesday, May 30). A lone male wearing a balaclava, black hoody and grey tracksuit bottoms entered the service station shop brandishing a knife. He demanded cash but left empty handed and escaped on foot through the Swan GAA field.
Gardai issued an appeal yesterday for the public's assistance in catching the criminal.
Supt. William Leahy appealed to anybody in the vicinity of John Street in Carrick-on-Suir between 9.30am and 9.45am yesterday to contact Clonmel Garda Station at (052) 6122222.
