Rambling in the Silvermines
Silvermines Rambling Festival returns this June 30 following last year's successful event.
Organisers have been busy preparing new walks to cater for all ranges of abilities and to showcase the beauty of the Silvermines and surrounding area.
After the morning’s three walks and refreshments, a heritage mining walk will take place with walkers being bussed to Shalee Cross for a walk in the former Mogul and Macabar sites before ending at Silvermines village.
This year, the organisers have added a family theme to the festival and in the afternoon young and old will be entertained by Animal Magic and face painting and can also enjoy the newly-resurfaced walks around the village, including the Fairy Lane by the river added by the Tidy Towns Group.
Local talent Robbie Glenon will play a range of music and songs at Hickeys Bar & Lounge from 9.30pm onwards.
Registration commences at 9.30am and further information can be obtained by checking out the festival Facebook and Twitter pages. Enquiries can also be made by emailing silverminesramblingfestival@gmail.com or phoning 083-3453959 after 6pm.
