First staff move into Carrick-on-Suir’s new Primary Care Centre

Carrick-on-Suir's new state-of-the-art Primary Care Centre has opened with the first staff members moving in over the past forthnight, Carrick-on-Suir Municipal District's agm was told. 

Cllr Louise McLoughlin revealed the news that the one-stop-shop for community health services was up and running in her speech to the District agm following her election as its new chairperson. 

She said as a member of the HSE South East Forum, she was delighted to see the Primary Care Centre has opened. 

The Centre is located next to Carrick-on-Suir's St Brigid's District Hospital on the Pill Road. Cllr McLoughlin said the health services that will be setting up there over the next few weeks include public health nurses,physiotherapy, speech and language therapy, occupional therapy, dental, social work, dietics, mental health services and an area medical officer. 

She said hopefully a  resident GP will locate there in due course.  "This is a huge boost to Carrick-on-Suir town and surrounding areas," the Fine Gael councillor added.
