Above - At the sod-turning of the new sensory playground and garden at Mulcahy Park, Clonmel, the opening of which has been delayed, were Bronagh Fleming, Boston Scientific; Hugh Meehan, Boston Scientific; Brendan Nyhan, Clonmel Rotary Club president; Catherine Kennedy, South Tipp Autism Support Group chairperson; and David Irwin, Boston Scientific.
The prolonged hot and dry spell has delayed the opening of the new sensory playground at Mulcahy Park in Clonmel.
The playground was scheduled to open next Thursday, July 26.
However Anthony Coleman, District Administrator of Clonmel Borough District, has stated that it hasn't been possible to lay the grass turf and complete the final work on site because of the drought.
“It is planned to lay central area grass turf shortly but this work will be weather-dependent”, he said.
The main contractor, Garden Escapes, had substantially completed work on the sensory playground, which is adjacent to the existing playground in Mulcahy Park, Mr. Coleman added.
