Tipperary Gardai launch investigation after thieves drive vehicle through hotel door to steal cigarette machine

Gardai in Tipperary have appealed for any witnesses to four burglaries that occurred in the early hours of Thursday morning, September 20, in North Tipperary to come forward. 

Gardai are investigating multiple burglaries in the Roscrea and Thurles areas which all occurred within a two hour period on the same night, Thursday September 20.

The first burglary occurred at approximately 12:25am in the early hours of Thursday morning, September 20, at a retail premises in the Roscrea area in which a small amount of cash was stolen.

Later that night a separate burglary occurred at a service station in the Roscrea Road area at approximately 1:20am. A significant amount of damage was caused at the shop and a small amount of goods were also taken.

At approximately 1:50am a group of males gained entry to a retail premises in the Thurles area however they were disturbed by Gardaí and then fled the scene in a dark coloured car.

At approximately 2am Gardaí also received reports of a car being driven through the front door of a hotel in the Roscrea area. A cigarette machine was stolen from the premises. 

A spokesperson for An Garda Siochana told the Tipperary Star that no arrests have been made in relation to the four incidents and that investigations are ongoing.

Anyone with information or who may have seen any suspicious activity around the times of the burglaries is asked to contact Thurles Gardai Station on 0504 25100 or Roscrea Garda Station on 0505 24230.
