Tougher action called for on dogs fouling footpaths in Clonmel

Dog fouling

Dog fouling in Clonmel has been described as "a scourge"

Proposals designed by Clonmel Borough District  to tackle dog fouling were not strong enough, Cllr. Pat English insisted at a council meeting.

Sean Keating, Director of Services, told the members that the council intended to erect posters to combat dog fouling in the town, as well as provide more stencil drawings on footpaths.

Cllr.English said dog fouling was a scourge and he said signs should be erected instead of posters.

Cllr.Siobhan Ambrose said dog fouling continued to be a plague and she felt progress could be made by providing  waste bag dispensers  on the Greenway and on the Bypass  so that people walking thier dogs could dispose of the waste to avoid footpath fouling.

District Mayor Cllr.Richie Molloy said it would be a start to have more bags freely available for the disposal of dog waste.
