Singing bishop performs at Carrick-on-Suir charity concert

The Bishop of Waterford & Lismore was a surprise star singing act at a concert in Carrick-on-Suir's Brewery Lane Theatre in aid of the Ahenny & Faugheen Defibrillator Project.
Most Rev. Alphonsus Cullinan sang the famous Moon River and Ave Maria at the show on Friday, September 27.
The Bishop was among a large line up of local musicians and singers who performed at the concert that raised €1400 for the Defibrillator Project.
Other performers included Michael and Benny, Maria O’Shea Enright accompanied by Caoilfhionn Ni Gearraí on cello, Liam Dwyer, Mala Raggett, Phila Grace and Pannie Bartley. Carrick-on-Suir Musical Society was represented by Ray Nolan, Sandra Power, Siobhan Grace, Pat Quinn-Bolger and Eileen Malone.
Accompaniment was provided by Tony Egan, John Grace, Willie Stewart and musical director Gay Brazel and Sound Engineer, Pete Smith, looked after the technical side of things.
Walter Dunphy, the Master of Ceremonies, brought laughter and smiles to the proceedings. Dr Sabine Eggers opened the show with a rundown of how money raised so far had been used by the Group.
Athe end of the night, she thanked the attentive audience for their support and those who had taken part in the show for providing wonderful entertainment.
She thanked Gay Brazel for the hours of work he put into rehearsals for the show. She also thanked the management and staff of the Brewery Lane Theatre for making the premises available and the staff of the Heritage Centre who oversaw the sale of tickets, not forgetting the many sponsors of raffle prizes.
