The newest exhibition titled Irish Craft #1 opened to the public on last Friday November 19 at Cahir Arts on Castle Street. The first days of the exhibition saw numerous visitors travelling to Cahir to see an amazing line up of Irish craft makers.

The artists showcase the best of Ireland's craft sector. The exhibition presents work by over 20 craftspeople, each creating beautiful unique pieces for the exhibition. Gallery proprietor Siobhan Caplice has managed to bring together some of Ireland’s best craft makers whose skills have been validated by numerous exhibitions at home and abroad over many years.

Siobhan hopes that people will appreciate the craftsmanship and consider offering unique hand-crafted gifts this Christmas. From hot-air balloons by Jerpoint Glass to Unique bowls by award-winning artists like Cora Cummins and Kathleen Walsh, once again there is a little something to suit everyone’s taste and all exhibited together in the stunning space of Cahir Arts Gallery.
The makers on show have created works of a very high quality in various materials, wood, willow, glass, ceramics, textile, tapestry & silver, some are functional items and there are many unique display pieces of exceptional beauty.

Recently, the Irish public has shown a greater interest in craft. At a time when many are showing a considerable preference and appreciation for goods that are Irish made for Christmas gifts, the time is right for an exhibition that shows the best of Ireland.

The Exhibition runs until December 24 at Cahir Arts. The design shop and new extended gallery space also have a permanent selection of paintings and craft items on display. Siobhan is delighted to share her passion with visitors and is always ready to meet new talent.

Participants in the current exhibition are Jerpoint Glass, Aoife Soden, Suzy O’Sullivan, Mide Reddin Quinlan, Sinead Fagan, Cora Cummins, Eileen Singleton, Jane Jermyn, Kildog Pottery, Kathleen Walsh, Gintaras Malinauskas, CK53 Design, Joe Hogan, Kathleen Hayden, Terry the Weaver, Muriel Beckett, Frances Crowe, Felix Falkner, Jane Seymour and The Clay house ceramics.
