Méabh Russell
Talented young Tipperary soccer defender Méabh Russell has confirmed her return to Wexford Youths for the upcoming season.
The Clonmel woman made a big impression at Ferrycarrig Park in her first Women’s National League campaign in 2022 after she signed from Cork City.
Méabh made 26 appearances for Wexford Youths, including 19 starts, and scored her first senior goal in their win over Bohemians at Dalymount Park in August.
She also had a successful year playing with the Ireland Under 17 and Under 19 teams. The girls in green have progressed to the Round 2 Qualifiers for the 2023 UEFA European Championships.
She has been capped three times at Under 19 and seven times at Under 17 level for the Irish international team.
Méabh had a very promising campaign in 2022 and fans will be eager to see her bring that form into the new season.
She was also chosen for a 2022 Annerville award, sponsored by Bulmers, and which will be presented by the Tipperary United Sports Panel at a ceremony at the Talbot Hotel Clonmel on Saturday night, January 21.
