An exhibition by Anne Martin Walsh will open in Cahir on February 15
Anne Martin Walsh is a Tipperary-born artist who has taken as subject matter places in Tipperary linked to her childhood.
She received funding, including a bursary from Tipperary Arts office, for a three-month residency in Cahir Arts.
This residency will result in a body of work to be exhibited in Cahir Arts from February 15.
Her work is particularly interesting as it is based on Tipperary with cultural, historical and societal references.
“My practice revolves around painting, photography and printmaking, sometimes installed in combination with sculptural elements. Central to this work are themes of sexual and cultural identity that relate to our natural environment and reference a range of topics taken from history and mythology.
“The work for A MIND’S EYE was created in response to a retained connection with my native Tipperary, inspired by a navigation of this terrain through walking and the art of divination. I use printmaking and painting to create a reflection of ‘memories of place’, from childhood to the present day, suggesting a state of flux and reciprocity between past and present, earthly and otherworldly, seen and unseen,” said Anne.
