On Wednesday, January 25, our U17 boys recorded a 3-0 win over Crescent Comprehensive in Newport AFC grounds. Jamie Long opened the scoring from a long-range free kick that the keeper failed to deal with.
A mix-up from a corner saw St Mary's extend their lead in the second half. Patrick Sheehan assed a third goal late on. This result means St Mary's top their group in the North Munster League.
On Thursday, January 26, our U15 boys A team were victorious in the quarter-final of the Munster trophy against Borrisokane Community College.
Cathal Mc Namara opened the scoring after 3 minutes when he pounced on a loose ball in the box. He added a second goal in the first half to give St Mary's breathing space after Borrisokane had been pushing for an equaliser.
Ben Ross added the third goal two minutes into the second half before Cathal Mc Namara completed his hat trick five minutes later. Ben Ross scored his second goal within ten minutes and Corma Ryan added the final goal with one of the last plays of the game.
Well done to all involved. Also, our U15 boy's B team played Borrisokane in a friendly game last Thursday. St Mary's came out on the right side for a 1-0 score line with Alan Judge slotting home a penalty in the first half. Borrisolane pushed for an equalizer late on and struck the crossbar twice in the dying moments, but St Mary's held on.
