Tipperary students head off on a jam-packed trip to Barcelona

On February 8, 20 senior cycle Spanish students headed off to Barcelona, Spain to embark on four jam-packed days exploring one of Europe’s most iconic cities. The trip started with a guided tour of Barcelona where students got to see the main landmarks of the city and stroll along La Rambla, a tree-lined pedestrian street in the heart of the city.

The wide variety of activities on offer meant students also learned about history, art and science in some of the city’s main museums, and they paid a visit to the world-famous Nou Camp, home to former and current footballing greats.

The final day of the trip concluded with a visit to the city’s renowned aquarium and a stop off at the beach to get some well-earned rest and catch the sunset.

The students took advantage of the many opportunities to put their Spanish skills into practice and expand their understanding of a new and fascinating culture. From ordering tapas and chocolate-stuffed churros to navigating the metro, the students showed off what they’ve been learning in school and went from language learners to enthusiastic language users.
All in all, while a bit chillier than some had expected, a fantastic time was had by all! ¡Hasta la próxima Barcelona!
