Dundrum AC's Liam Butler is Tipperary's Over 65 Roads Champion

The Coolquill team of Matt Alexander, Leslie Smyth and Eddie Cahalan who won team silver medals in the County Masters Road Championships which took place in Clerihan on Sunday last.

The County Masters Road Championships took place in Clerihan, hosted by Clonmel AC, last Sunday.
Conditions were very good, and the County Board would like to thank Clonmel AC for hosting two very good races.
The masters over 65 3k race got proceedings underway at 12 noon. Here the athletes competed on an out and back route. Liam Butler of Dundrum AC made his winning move on the return journey and maintained a strong pace to win in 12 mins 40 secs and was crowned County Tipperary over 65 champion.
Then we had Matt Alexander of Coolquill AC a new recruit to the over 70 also running a great race when finishing second overall to win the over 70 title impressively in 12 mins 59 secs. Then we had Jim St John of Clonmel AC finished third to win the over 65 silver medal in 13 mins 10 secs. John Corry of Clonmel AC won the over 65 bronze medal in 13 mins 57 secs. Tom Quinn of Clonmel AC fresh from his Limerick marathon performance, won the over 70 silver medal in 14 mins 14 mins. Noel Howley of Clonmel AC won the over 70 bronze medal in 14 mins 27 secs. Eddie Cahalan of Coolquill AC won the over 75 county title impressively in 14 mins 57 secs with Myles McHugh of Clonmel AC winning the over 75 silver medal in 17 mins 17 secs.
In the team competition the Clonmel trio of Jim St John, John Corry and Tom Quinn were crowned county champions. The Coolquill team of Matt Alexander, Leslie Smyth and Eddie Cahalan won silver while the bronze were won by the Clonmel AC team of Noel Howley, Ned O’Brien and Myles McHugh.
