Uisce Éireann looking to carry out more site visits to Tipperary waste water plant

The operation of the Ballycommon waste water treatment plant will continue to be closely monitored over the coming weeks to ensure that it is improving to the required levels, Uisce Éireann has told Cllr Seamus Morris.

The water utility told him that improvement works carried out this month with their partners in Tipperary County Council included emptying tanks and removing plastic debris to help restore performance.

Since taking over the plant in 2021, Uisce Éireann says that it has carried out regular maintenance works to improve its performance. This includes regular desludging and removal of material from site to prevent overflows to the river.

"We have committed to carry out further upgrades at the plant and have engaged with the original suppliers of the system in recent weeks which has led to some immediate improvements and repairs to the Ballycommon WWTP.

"Site visits and inspections took place to confirm the scope of the works and while these works are expected to improve the plant performance, further significant works will be required," they told Cllr Morris.

"We have contacted the suppliers of the waste water treatment plant again with a view to conducting another site visit as soon as possible to look at making further adjustment," they said.
