U13 Football County Finals: North teams have successful finals Sunday in Dundrum

County U13B Football Championship Final

Toomevara 1-11

Mullinahone 1-4

Toomevara’s greater all round ability was the difference especially in the second half as they added a new chapter to their illustrated history.

This was a very enjoyable game with Mullinahone enjoying as much possession as their counterparts but were unable to capitalise when it matters most.

Toomevara had the perfect start when Charlie Cummins hit the net after just ninety seconds. It was the start of a frenzied opening ten minutes as Mullinahone fought back with a Jason Ahmed point. KJ Dunne replied with a free before Ahmed scored his second point with his shot tipped over the bar by goalkeeper Mathew Bergin.

With the south champions enjoying a lot of possession, Mullinahone should have more than just a Darragh Scott free for their third point in the eleventh minute. The next score was eight minutes later when Callum Ryan scored a point for Toome but Conor Tobin hit back with a converted forty five.

The Toome defence were solid with KJ Dunne so reliable and when he put Dan Daly through for a point the North champions enjoyed a 1-3 to 0-4 half time lead.

The second half was a different colour in terms of scores as Toome really shored up their defence and as a result their forwards made hay as they rattled off eight unanswered points with Aidan O’Connor, Michael Fitzpatrick and Dan Daly scoring from play while KJ Dunne made up the rest when adding two points from two frees and a penalty which brought his tally to 0-5 for the day.
