The Michael Hogan festival of football is a competition run in Tipperary for Under 11 and Under 13 players aimed at promoting football in the county.
The Under 13 competition will take place place in Autumn while the under 11 competition went ahead this June Bank Holiday weekend with action in Nenagh, Toomevara, Killenaule, Galtee Rovers, Loughmore, Gortnahoe, Seán Treacy’s, and Thurles Gaels GAA Club.
The competition was well run and the host clubs ensured everyone was well looked after. Overall the event was a big success and now the attention turns to the Under 13 tournament which takes place in the Autumn.
Michael Hogan played with Tipperary on Bloody Sunday back in 1920 and the corner back lost his life when he was killed during the game. The current juvenile football tournament is run by the Tipperary football board and was first held following the centenary of Michael Hogan's death.
