The Ss Peter & Paul’s team who recently won the inaugural Road-To-Glory Tournament in Clonmel
The inaugural Road-To-Glory Tournament which took place in Clonmel in June was a great success with five local primary schools participating in a thrilling soccer tournament organised by St. Mary’s CBS, Irishtown.
Students from St. Mary’s CBS, Ss Peter & Paul’s, Bunscoil na Cathrach, Kilsheelan National School and Moyglass National School all came together on a sweltering hot summer’s day (Thursday, June 15) to compete for the title.
The weather was incredibly warm, but that didn’t stop the players from giving it their all on the pitch.
The games were played on Clonmel Celtic’s Astro turf pitches, which provided a great surface for the players to showcase their skills.
The tournament was filled with many exciting moments, with each team fighting hard to win. The players showed great sportsmanship and teamwork throughout, and the spectators were treated to some thrilling games.
In the end, it was Ss Peter and Paul’s who narrowly emerged victorious, beating Bunscoil na Cathrach in a penalty shootout after both teams finished the tournament level on points.
The tournament was a great way for the local primary schools to come together and showcase their soccer skills. It provided an opportunity for the students to compete against each other in a friendly and competitive environment, and to learn the value of teamwork and sportsmanship.
The Road-To-Glory Tournament was a great success, and all schools involved should be proud of their efforts. The tournament was a testament to the hard work and dedication of the players, coaches, and organisers, who all contributed to making the event a memorable one.
The organisers would like to take a moment to thank the sponsors of the tournament for their generous support. Maher’s Londis, John Kennedy Motors, Martin’s Fruit and Veg, Panda Carpets, and Clonmel Celtic FC all played a crucial role in the promotion of the tournament and their contributions were greatly appreciated. Without their support, the event would not have been possible. We are grateful for their commitment and dedication to the local community.
The organisers would also like to thank Jack Aylward and Jack Boland of Clonmel Celtic FC and TSSDL teams for refereeing the games.
