Town Centre First survey seeks Carrick-on-Suir people's views on improvements for their town

Carrick-on-Suir residents and business people’s views are being sought on what they think is needed to make their town a vibrant place to work, live and visit.

A survey of the public’s views is being carried out by the Carrick-on-Suir Town Centre First Team and Tipperary County Council to assist with the preparation of a Town Centre First plan for the town.

The Carrick-on-Suir Town Centre First Team came together in April 2023, to ensure the development and delivery on the Town Centre First Plan following the launch of Town Centre First – A Policy Approach for Irish Towns by the Government in February 2022.

The team is made up of local representatives of economic and tourism development and business associations, community, youth, older persons organisations, sports, disability, and residents associations, theatre and arts groups, and social services groups along with a local authority representative.

It operates under the chairmanship of Tony Musiol and is supported by the Town Regeneration Officer, Áine McCarthy, who is part of a network of Town Regeneration Officers operating under the guidance of a new national Town Centre First Office.

The Team’s first port of call is to open up a conversation with the citizens of Carrick-on-Suir and its hinterland and its business sector, to hear their views and aspirations for their town, and how they would like it to develop.

It is an opportunity for all generations to have their say and input into the plan and the key actions and outcomes arising from it.

“The consultation period runs until September 29 and the team would love to hear from you,” said Mr Musiol.

The online version of the survey can be accessed through Tipperary County Council’s website.

Hard copies of the Town Centre First community surveys are available from Carrick-on-Suir Town Hall at New Street and the Sean Healy Memorial Library at Fair Green.

When completed, paper versions of the questionnaire may be returned to the above or to receptacles at the Tudor Artisan Hub, Main Street; Nano Nagle Community Resource Centre; Carrick Post Office at Super Valu; Spar at Abbey Road, Carrickbeg and Martina's Daybreak Shop at Carrickbeg.
