Back with a bang - welcome return to Tipperary soccer for one proud club

A Blast from the Past - Ballingarry Albion, 2nd Division Shield winners and Second Division League Champions 2008-2009.

Return of Ballingarry Albion
Last weekend saw us officially return to the TS&DL as we hosted our neighbours Killenaule Rovers in the first game of our season.
While Sunday saw us back on the playing pitch, we would like to take this opportunity to say a special thanks to those who have made this return a possibility.
The committee first met way back in March to discuss the possibility. Made up of mainly players we discussed the many challenges we would face trying to return as a lot of our former players had gone elsewhere during our time away. This, accompanied with many other obstacles, would have deterred a lot of teams. But we decided we would give it a go and return to the old name of Ballingarry Albion.
Next up was to get some funding and money into the club and up stepped a familiar face in Imelda Goldsboro who was on hand to point us in the right direction while securing us a very generous anonymous donation. That was the kick-start we needed and with that we then went about sorting our pitch and equipment.
Huge thanks to Brian Moloney and the Field Committee, who again guided us and tried to aid us in any way possible.
Next a recruitment of players took centre stage and it was great to see so many faces willing to come back. We have a long road ahead of us and this year will be a tough test as we look to steady the ship and just keep the club ticking over while trying to push forward with the right ideas for future players.
Speaking of future players it has been great to see so many young lads over training and getting involved. They have really been a breath of fresh air around the place and they’ve brought a real spark back into soccer in the community. We are in safe hands and we will look to build around them as we go forward.
Every team needs a kit and with our rebrand we have decided to change our kit and we are delighted to announce a local business is going to sponsor us, which will be revealed very soon hopefully.
A very special thanks to The Village Takeaway who have come on board and very generously sponsored our first few home games with a donation.
As always it is fantastic to see the local community/ businesses helping out and we will try to repay their generosity anyway we can.
We have a welcome addition to the social media team with Luke Maher now coming on board to help Ricky with our three socials - Here, Instagram and Twitter - be sure to follow us on Instagram as we will be posting quiet a lot there.
All our committee deserve a special mention as it is very hard to both play and be part of a committee for the club you represent so massive thanks to all the lads (the usual crew) and to Billy O’Brien Snr who has come on board again who we are absolutely delighted to see back more than anyone.
Last and certainly not least a massive thanks to Gerard Maher. He’s been the glue that has joined all corners of the club from the fundraising to the recruiting to the behind the scenes things that nobody sees. We’re a small club and we don’t have the luxury of a big committee so Ger has taken on several roles which we are extremely thankful for.
If anyone would like to help out in any way, please get in touch as we are always looking to add to the committee especially. All in all it’s great to be back and we are looking forward to the challenges ahead and we hope we will have your support for upcoming fundraisers and hopefully see some support in The Comm
