The Clonmel High School Under 19 rugby team who played Midleton College at Ard Gaoithe last week

High School CBS 39 Midleton College 22
Our Under 16 Rugby team played their first Mungret Shield match of the season against Midleton College in Clonmel RFC last week and recorded a comfortable win. The High School dominated the first half with Jerome Phelan (2), Alex O’Keeffe and Anthony Fitzgerald all scoring tries.
In the second half the High School added three more tries from Sean Delahunty, PJ Walsh and Mbekezeli Masuku.
Conal Morrisson and Michael Murray kicked two conversions. PJ Walsh gave a powerful performance in the pack, making several strong runs, while Anthony Fitzgerald in the centre gave a man of the match performance with his tackling and line breaks. Midleton scored a few late consolation tries.

Our Under 19 Rugby team also played Midleton College in their first Mungret Cup match in Clonmel RFC last Wednesday. The match was scoreless for 25 minutes before High School’s Jack Lane and Luke Slattery scored tries before half time. Liam Maher kicked two conversions to give the High School a 14-nil lead at the break.
The High School took control in the second half with tries from Alex Slattery (3), Liam Maher (2) and David Coyne. Alex Slattery kicked two conversions. This was a positive performance by the High School. Sean Wall, Davy Brennan and Tom O’Brien impressed in the pack while Liam Maher, Sam Maher and Cailean Morrison shone in the backs. Alex Slattery gave a man of the match performance at scrum half, scoring a hat trick of tries.
