Junior camogie finals ready for an exciting climax this weekend

Junior camogie finals ready for an exciting climax this weekend

Junior B2 County Camogie Final

Toomevara vs Éire Óg Annacarty

Toomevara started a junior team just three years ago with many former Toomevara and Tipperary camogie players including Louise Younge coming out of long spells of retirement to once again represent their club.

Beaten last year at the semi-final stage a good win over Holycross Ballycahill in this year's semi-final has them deservedly in Sunday's contest.

Michelle Harty is a key player at full-back while sisters Elaine, Fiona, and Louise Young form the backbone of the team.
Eire Og Annacarty had a great win over last year's beaten finalists Shannon Rovers in their semi-final. With a wealth of youth and experience in their side, they will be tough opposition on Sunday.

Their senior team will have been disappointed not to make a semi-final this year but on Sunday their second adult team has a great chance of ending the year on a high and capturing the FBD Insurance Junior B2 title.

Junior A County Camogie Final

Moycarkey Borris vs Holycross Ballycahill

Moycarkey Borris have shown huge progress this year to reach Sunday's final having just come up from Junior B. They lost one game in the group stages against Fethard but still topped the group and recorded a big win over Drom & Inch in their quarter-final.

A great start against Brian Borus in the semi-final put them into a commanding lead at half-time but they had to withstand a big Brian Borus fightback to claim victory.

They have had great underage success in recent years with many of that talent now key players on their Junior team including twins Caithlin and Ciara Shelly, Sarah Corcoran, Amy Callanan, and Kate Ralph. But they also have the experience of captain Karen Mullins and dangerous forward Caithriona Walsh at their disposal.

It's been a great year to date for Holycross Ballycahill who failed to reach the semi-finals last year. They will be hoping they can land the big one on Sunday to add to their league title earlier in the year.

They know what to expect from Moycarkey having lost to them in the group stages. They responded brilliantly to that defeat to beat Kiladangan and Fethard in the quarter and semi-final.

Aisling Slattery and Claire Stakelum are key players for them along with Linda Fanning. This year they are being managed by Declan Carr and along with Kate Bannon (S&C) they have brought a real professionalism to the setup.
