Doocey, O’Loughlin and O'Brien on target as Moyglass United win in Tipperary League

Moyglass united 3 – 1 Rosegreen Rangers

The home team started strongly and were always on the front foot throughout the early part of this game, but found it hard to break down a very stubborn Rosegreen Rangers defence. Eventually the visitors found their feet and gave the hosts some trouble with their quick counter attacks.

Eventually the deadlock was broken by Moyglass United five minutes before the half-time break, when Niall Doocey forced an error from the visiting defence and cleverly beat the goalkeeper at his near post.

That looked like it was going to be the only goal of the half, but the home side got a second in the 44th minute when a one-two on the left between Craig Nolan and Alan Lyons left the Rosegreen Rangers defence flat footed and when Lyons shot was parried by the keeper, Ciaran O’Loughlin finished with a deft touch from close in.

Two behind at the break, the visitors pushed on more in the second half, and won a penalty in the 65th minute, which was converted by Ian Shelly to bring the deficit back to the minimum.

However their dreams were shortlived when five minutes later the home side added a third through Eddie O’Brien to ensure that they would take all the points on offer and send Rosegreen home empty handed.
