The Roscrea Community Choir event held in Birr recently was a huge success
This is the 25th Anniversary of the revival of the Roscrea Community Choir, and so a celebratory night honouring past and present members was held in the County Arms Hotel on Friday the 20th of October.
At the event a special presentation was made to Lucy McCarthy the longtime Musical Director and Mentor.
There was also a presentation made to Mary Ryan who, along with the late Terry Horan helped organise the Revival of the Community Choir in 1998.
Mary is still an active Committee member and Choir singer.
Before a delicious dinner was served, presentations and speeches were given by Catherine Egan (Secretary), Mary Ryan and Siobhán Bowe which chronicled the active history of the revived Choir.
Photo albums and a photo slideshow were on view to share great memories of visits to Italy, Austria, Prague & Choir participation in Papal masses, Choral Festivals and local celebratory events to name but a few!
The choir were entertained also by our own local group ‘Passing Through’ and all enjoyed a marvellous night out.
Thanks were expressed towards the Committee and all who helped organise a wonderful 25th anniversary celebratory evening.
Thanks were extended also to the wonderful staff of the County Arms Hotel, Birr who couldn’t have been more helpful in preparing and decorating the ideal venue room.
Members were buzzing after a great night's celebration and many sang all the way home on the bus which was provided by Andrew Walsh, one of tenors!
The next big event for their celebratory 25th anniversary is a Christmas themed concert on Saturday the 9th of December in the Church of Ireland, Roscrea.
Guest Artists include Soprano Yvonne O’Toole, the VOICE academy singers by Yvonne O’Toole, the Midland String Quartet and the Roscrea Cistercian Boys’ Choir.
It promises to be a wonderful night’s entertainment so book tickets nowhowever some tickets will be available on the door and Choir members will also be pre-selling some tickets.
There will be more details released in the coming weeks relating to this next event to mark a very special year for Roscrea Community Choir.
