Get along to Drombane on Saturday evening
This Saturday evening will be a special one in Drombane as Peter Ryan will be celebrated in his home village.
He recently completed a huge fundraising challenge by running 586KM in 5 days. He made the trek from Malin to Mizen by running the length of Ireland in aid of Vision Ireland, formerly known as NCBI.
On Saturday evening (November 18th), mass will take place in Drombane Village at 6.30pm where a presentation will be made, following that an event will take place in Drombane hall across the road at 7.30pm where Peter will be joined on stage by some of those who helped him along the way in a Q and A session.
On the night a cheque in the region of €100,000 will be handed over to Vision Ireland! It is an event not to be missed with some surprises along the way.
There will be refreshments served to all afterwards in the hall and there will also be a full night of activity in 'Tim Ned's' of Drombane as the Doran Family will provide the music before DJ Colm Kennedy spins the discs and keeps the tunes going by popular demand!
Peter Ryan released a statement on social media this week giving thanks: "A massive thanks to everyone who got behind it and donated over the past few months. The support has been incredible and I appreciate it so much!
"There will be a get together in the hall in Drombane on Saturday 18th at 7:30pm where myself and the crew will chat about the ups and downs of the week and what the donation will be used for. After that there will be music and finger food in Neds Pub. Would love to see you there!"
