In the intermediate womens 5,000m race, Clonmel had a very strong showing with six athletes featuring including gold medal winner Kealey Tideswell (second fromright).
Well done to all the Clonmel AC members that ran Sunday last in Riverstick, Co. Cork. The late venue change meant a few of our regular runnners couldn't make the race, sorry you had to miss out.
The races for the Munster B Juvenile uneven athletes saw our own Nicola (Nikki) Condon running in the U9 race, this was Nikki's first XC race and we know that she is made for racing, always giving 100%. Congrats Nikki in your 45th place finish in your very first XC race.
The U9 boys race saw James Hennessy line up and absolutely smash the course up with his 23rd place finish - fantastic running James. Always on top form and smiling!
The U11 girls had Judy O'Donnell putting the course to the test with a fantastic 33rd place finish, Judy is always working hard, and puts maximum effort into everything she does. Brilliant going Judy.
Also competing in the U11 girls race were Tara and May O'Shea, both embracing the XC lifestyle like they were made for it, finishing in 86th and 88th place respectively. Well done girls.
Eadaoin Duffy claimed the gold medal in the U15 cross country event at Riverstick, Cork on Sunday last.
In the U11 boys we had Dave Hennessy, brother of James and he is no stranger to the mud and cold - he appears to thrive in the challenge of it. A true cross country racer, finishing up his tough race if a very strong 14th position. Awesome run Dave!
The U15 girls were out in force, with Eadaoin Duffy claiming the Gold Medal that she truly deserves. Eadaoin is a hard worker, and her potential is huge in all walks of life, it's wonderful to see her pick up a cherished medal in this tough sport. Fair play Eadaoin.
Team mates Alice Meegan posted a very impressive 25th, Hannah Murray just on her tail in 29th and Lily Casey in 31st. This is great to see as these girls are regularly seen training together. It's so heartwarming to see them all at the start line together. Fantastic work girls.
In the intermediate womens 5,000m race, Clonmel had a very strong showing with six athletes featuring. Brilliant to see, but before we get to the race report, we need to take our hat off to these women - many of them ran the annual South Eastern Mountain Rescue Association 10 miler on Friday night. Well done to you all and a special mention to our own Kealey Tideswell - overall winner of THE LONG WAY ROUND on Friday night in a blistering time of 66 minutes and 35 seconds! That pace on a flat course is unbelievable but on this mountain route, it's a pace that will take some training to beat!
Our lineup for this Cross Country Race in Riverstick was amazing to see! Congrats Kealey on winning the race overall, you ran a spectacular race, and deserve huge credit! Gold Medal for Kealey!
Not to mention the breathtaking running in that mucky going from Suzanne Shine in 5th place, Sareen Walsh on Suzanne's tail in 6th place, Elaine Horgan in 11th place, Sarah Whelan in 14th place and Marina Quinlan in 16th place. A huge well done girls, you were absolutely fantastic! We are so proud of you all and thank you for representing us in Cork.
