Karen Kennedy (right) is the new Tipperary captain
Tipperary camogie star and All-Star winner Karen Kennedy will captain the Tipperary senior camogie team for 2024. The Thurles Sarsfields star has been the best player for a number of seasons now and her presence and leadership qualities are recognised by team manager Denis Kelly.
The Munster champions were shocked by Waterford at the penultimate stage of this years championship but they bridged a gap stretching back to 2010 without a Munster title when they beat Clare earlier this year in Thurles.
Caoimhe Maher who plays her club camogie with Burgess Duharra is going to be the vice-captain for the coming season as Tipperary look to build on progress made despite losing key players such as Orla O'Dwyer to emigration.
The season is set to begin in spring time but the training is underway already for teams across the country who all hope to close the gap on reigning All-Ireland champions Cork.
The national league in camogie is set to commence in February where Clare, Waterford, Cork, Galway and Kilkenny will be amongst the challengers Tipperary will face for the season ahead.
