On Friday, February 23, the Tipperary County Final of the Student Enterprise Programme for secondary school entrepreneurs took place at TUS, Thurles. Organised by the Local Enterprise Offices of Ireland, the programme, now in its 22nd year, was the largest enterprise initiative for second-level students in the country.

Over 25,000 students from approximately 500 second-level schools participated, aimed at fostering entrepreneurship and innovation.

In a recent highlight, two exceptional students from Rockwell College, Paddy Corcoran and Jack Lane, emerged victorious, clinching the prestigious AIB Entrepreneurial Award for their groundbreaking venture, Speedwayx, at the Tipperary Enterprise Awards. The event, organised by Enterprise Ireland in collaboration with Tipperary Local Enterprise Office, showcased the ingenuity and determination of local entrepreneurs.

Paddy and Jack’s remarkable achievement underscored their dedication and innovative approach in navigating the entrepreneurial landscape. Speedwayx, their brainchild, gained significant attention for its forward-thinking concepts and impactful solutions.

Their success not only reflected the vibrant entrepreneurial spirit thriving within the community but also highlighted Rockwell College’s commitment to fostering creativity and ambition among its students. The win set a commendable example for aspiring entrepreneurs across the region.

The duo, alongside fellow pupil Sean Cahill who supported them during the event, and teacher John O’Meara, were pictured accepting their award. They will represent Tipperary at the National Final, which is scheduled to be held in May at the Mullingar Park Hotel.

As they prepared to showcase their entrepreneurial prowess on a national stage, Paddy Corcoran and Jack Lane stood as shining examples of the innovative potential nurtured within Tipperary’s educational landscape. Their journey exemplified the transformative power of entrepreneurship in shaping the future of our youth and our communities.
