A group of young people who lost a dear friend in a road traffic accident have come together to empower first responders to save lives.
Friends of Luke McSweeney, who died in a road traffic accident last year with his sister Grace, Nicole Murphy and Zoey Coffey, came together on  to raise funds to support Clonmel First Responders and remember Luke.
There was a lovely atmosphere at the grounds of Clonmel Celtic  as a huge group of young people came to support the inaugural Luke McSweeney soccer tournament.

“Luke loved to bring people together He was always organising 5-a-side games and other events so that friends could meet up,” said Emmet Fahy.
26 teams entered the tournament and there was a constant flow of people to the ground all day Saturday to support the event.

Among them were members of Clonmel First Responders, a group that will receive all the funds raised on the day.
“This event shows, even a year later, the tight sense of community that is there in Clonmel and in south Tipperary. The funds raised today will go towards equipping every member of Clonmel Community Responders with a defibrillator,” said Tony Murray of Clonmel First Responders.

“We are very grateful that this group of young people would come together to raise funds for Clonmel First Responders. It preserves the memory of their friend and it helps the community. It shows what young people are capable of, it is heartwarming to see so many here today,” said Gerry, another member of Clonmel First Responders.
