A farmer's wife from Co. Tipperary won the most stylish award at the National Ploughing Championships yesterday, where 90,500 people thronged through the gates in Ratheniska, Co. Laois.
Anne O'Mahoney said she had no plans to enter the Most Appropriately Dressed contest but she and her friend Mary Hally were stopped as they made their way past the trade stands.
She collected her prize - a stay at the Club Hotel at Goffs, Co. Kildare - the grandmother of eight was wearing jeans and a linen shirt from Zara, boots from Pavoni boutique in Clonmel and a sleeveless jacket from Lavenham, with a handbag by Louis Vuitton.
