Shin Emperor is the best backed horse according to Boylesports ahead of Sunday’s Prix de l’Arc de Triomphe .

The Japanese raider, who was beaten by just one length behind Economics when finishing third in the Irish Champion Stakes, has seen his odds halve from 12/1 into 6/1 as punters latch onto the possibility of a first Arc winner from the Far East.

Look De Vega and Sosie continue to head the betting as 9/2 joint-favourites despite the latter scoring readily when the pair met in the Prix Neil. Punters however fancy Look De Vega’s chances of reversing the form and have backed the Al Shaqab owned colt with renewed confidence from 11/2 into 9/2, with his course and distance conqueror easing out to 9/2 from 7/2.

Los Angeles will fly the flag for Ireland and has been steady at 11/2, with Al Riffa seeing support. Joseph O’Brien’s four-year-old was a 25/1 shot for the Arc in the wake of his second to City Of Troy in the Eclipse, but has been backed into 10/1 with star Japanese jockey Yutaka Take taking the ride.

Brian O’Keeffe, spokesperson for BoyleSports, said: “It was heartbreak for Japan when Orfevre got run down late in 2012, but punters are really latching onto the dream of a maiden victory for the Far East in the Arc. Shin Emperor was a real eyecatcher in the Irish Champion Stakes and he’s the best backed horse with us ahead of Europe’s richest race.”
