Nominations open for the Tipperary Association Dublin Annual Awards 2024

Talented Tipperary artists humbled to receive prestigious awards

The 2 Johnnies were presented with the Tipperary Association Dublin Person of the Year Award in 2023.

The Tipperary Association Dublin is inviting nominations for its annual awards which acknowledge the special contribution and achievements of Tipperary people in 2024.

Nominations are invited in two categories while the awards will be presented at a special function in November 2024 to mark the 90th Anniversary of the Association.

Tipperary Person of the Year and Hall of Fame.

The Tipperary Person of the Year Award acknowledges the special contribution and achievements of a Tipperary person at local, county and national level from the fields of sport, academics, community and business.

The Award will be presented to an individual who made a special contribution to Tipperary in the past year and who achieved success in the person’s chosen field of endeavour.

Recent winners of the Award include successful hurling manager Michael Ryan (2016), Tipperary senior hurlers Brendan Maher and Seamus Callanan joint winners in 2019 and the “Queen of the Turf” Rachael Blackmore (2021). The entertainment duo The Two Johnnies were the 2023 joint winners of the Tipperary Person of the Year Award.

The Hall of Fame Award honours and acknowledges the achievements and contributions made in the past by individuals in the areas of culture, sport, community activity/development or business.

This award will acknowledge one of the Tipperary “stand out” individuals of the past. Many of Tipperary Greats have been inducted into the Hall of Fame from the inaugural winner in 1999 legendary Tipperary hurler, John Doyle, to more recent inductees as author/historian Eddie Dalton (2016), founder and manager of Aiseiri addiction services Sr. Eileen Fahy (2018) and former GAA Board Secretary Tim Floyd in 2022.

Last year’s winner was song writer and composer Brendan Graham.

Closing date for nominations is 1.00 pm on Monday 30 September 2024.
